The Opportunity
The Senior Corrugated Reliability Engineer with a Six Sigma certification combines machine uptime, root-cause failure analysis, and data-driven process control to eliminate defects and boost plant productivity. Responsible for leading the Corporate Reliability Management Process and developing a world-class Corporate / Enterprise Asset Maintenance (EAM) and asset reliability culture. Reporting to the Corporate Automation and Reliability Manager, this position will be responsible for developing and improving manufacturing equipment reliability programs and processes by the application of engineering principles with a LEAN Six Sigma approach. This role provides strategic and tactical leadership for equipment reliability, continuous improvement initiatives, root cause analysis to ensure the safe, reliability, and efficient operation of our Ontario Corrugated manufacturing assets.
The Senior Corrugated Reliability Engineer will drive the optimization of maintenance processes, improve asset performance, reduce equipment failures, and develop long-term reliability strategies that support operational excellence. This position serves as a key partner to Operations, Quality, Engineering, and EHS teams.
What you'll do
- Corporate Asset Reliability Management: Design, develop, implement, and optimize Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Condition Based Maintenance (CBM), Risk Based Inspection (RBI), Preventive Maintenance (PM), and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) reliability programs
- Develop and implement Corporate Asset Reliability and Quality Assurance programs for Converting / Corrugating machines
- Reliability Assurance: Mechanical / Instrumentation Integrity
- Quality Assurance: Calibration of Converting machines and Corrugator Process Instrumentation
- Six Sigma & Continuous Improvement: Apply Six Sigma (DMAIC or DFSS) methodologies to reduce process variance, optimize Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), and lower Mean Time to Repair (MTTR)
- Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA): Lead investigations for high-impact or recurring equipment and process failures using tools like Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Mitigation of Threats to Availability (MTA), and Weibull analysis
- Reliability Metrics: Tracks MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures), MTTR (Mean Time to Repair), and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) using CMMS data (i.e. Eptura M+, MaintainX)
- Corrugator Process Optimization: Applies DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) frameworks to reduce manufacturing variability and cycle times
- Data Integration: Track Equipment downtime using CTI, analyze equipment fault history using SCADA historian, use equipment schematics and PLC software to trace and analyze faults, and track asset health via CMMS (e.g., Eptura M+, MaintainX), and develop equipment and business intelligence platforms (e.g., OEE - Power BI)
- End-Of-Life equipment / devices: Develop, update and manage the equipment obsolescence program. With the assistance from Automation Specialist, manage and coordinate installation of project upgrades.
- Inventory / spare: Manage the centralized parts system and the critical spares inventory.
- CMMS: Manage the use of the CMMS system from a corporate level, ensuring both compliance and consistency amongst the plants
