Homefield Sports Group is a leading recreational sports business with the mission of creating exceptional lifelong opportunities to play sports. Every week, thousands of people participate in Homefield’s leagues to play sports, meet new people, and enjoy a dose of friendly competition. We serve approximately 25,000 participants across 16 sports in the GTHA.
The Role
We are looking for our first finance leader in a role that pairs practical execution with big picture financial thinking. You will be responsible for day-to-day accounting, month-end close, cash flow visibility, annual budgeting, and financial planning & analysis. This is not a large-team environment. This is a roll-up-your-sleeves position with real accountability for results. Over time, you will build the systems, processes, and team that enable rapid expansion of a multi-entity sports organization.
You will work directly with Homefield’s CEO as a strategic business partner. You will be both:
- Hands-on (owning financials, close, and core financial processes), and
- Strategic (driving planning, decision support, performance management, and M&A integration).
As Homefield scales, this role has a clear path to CFO.
Who This Role Is For
This role is well-suited for someone who has helped to build or run the finance function in a rapidly growing small or mid-sized business. The ideal candidate enjoys working closely with both business operations and ownership, and will have three or more years of progressive accounting / finance experience. A CPA designation is preferred but not required.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Foundation & Control
- Own month-end close, financial statements, and reporting
- Manage AP, AR, and revenue tracking across leagues and seasons
- Lead and oversee payroll
- Prepare tax filings and support year-end with external accountants
- Improve processes and controls as the business grows
Planning, Insight & Decision Support
- Build and maintain cash flow forecasts and budgets
- Design, implement, and report on monthly financial and operational KPIs (The Homefield Scoreboard)
Growth & Scale
- Build scalable multi-entity and multi-site reporting
- Support M&A integration
